The dictionary is free to use and generates no income.
The dictionary was compiled by Donald Gillies and launched in March 2010.
At the time of compilation, Dr Gillies was lecturer in Educational Studies at the University of Strathclyde. Following a period as Senior Lecturer, he moved to York St John University as Professor of Education Policy in 2012. He is now Dean of the School of Education at University of the West of Scotland. Prior to moving to the university sector he taught for over 20 years in state schools.
Despite spending many hours in libraries, he is reasonably well socialised.
Following the demise of Microsoft's OfficeLive facility in April 2012, the dictionary had to be rebuilt with a new web host. Grateful thanks are extended to Melvin Griffin who undertook this task.
