The dictionary was compiled by Donald Gillies and launched in March 2010.
Since 2014, he has been Dean of the School of Education at University of the West of Scotland, having previously been Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Educational Studies at the University of Strathclyde (2005-12), and Professor of Education Policy at York St John University (2012-14). Prior to moving to the university sector he taught for over 20 years in state schools.
Despite spending many hours in libraries, he is reasonably well socialised.
